Consultation has concluded
All owners of land abutting a canal in Lagoon City are required to construct and maintain a vertical engineered structure referred to as a shorewall. The purpose of the shorewall is to delineate the boundaries of the canals while protecting against the erosion and degradation that could adversely affect the canal and adjacent properties. The shorewall is designed to retain soil of each property that abuts the canal.
Thank you to everyone who provided comments on the Lagoon City Shorewall Bylaw. It is Council’s initiative to promote community engagement, involvement and transparency, so thank you to everyone for your input. The Lagoon City Shorewall Bylaw FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) is now available in the documents section on the right.
Council adopted the Lagoon City Shorewall Bylaw on February 10th, 2020. Please see a copy of the bylaw in the documents section on the far right.
